How to Scale Your Business

How to Scale Your Business

Are you ready to finally take your biz to the next level?

There comes a point in time for every business owner where you’re faced with a decision… to scale or not to scale. Things will inevitably get to a point where you can no longer handle ALL of the work on your own. So, you’re presented with 2 options...

A) Stop bringing in any more business and keep things where they’re at.

B) SCALE!

If you’ve been considering scaling your business or just wondering what it takes to do so, then you’ve come to the right blog. Hailey and I are sharing the top 3 things we did in order to scale Glow. Let’s dive right in!

Tip #1: Let go of control.

This is probably the hardest one, to be honest. Who wants to let go of control over their own business? I didn’t at first. Your business is like your baby and the idea of handing off some responsibilities to someone else’s plate is not easy… but it is SO necessary.

When you’re at this point of debating to scale, your plate is already overflowing and you really have no choice but to start bringing in help. So, the best thing you can do here is to accept this reality and trust. Trust the process and trust that bringing in help is going to do you SO much good in the long run.

Tip #2: Hire, hire, hire.

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go FAR (and avoid burnout), go together. While I see tons of estheticians running their business solo (which is awesome!), I know firsthand that when things get too much… it gets too much. Remember, you can’t fill someone else’s cup until you fill yours! For more on self-care as an etsy, you can check out last week’s blog here and our podcast episode here.

When you’re ready to hire (which will be absolutely key to scaling), hire things you don’t want to do or things that you aren’t necessarily good at! For example, hiring a laundry service, reception, an online booking system. By hiring help and bringing on someone else to fulfill a miscellaneous task for you, YOU can finally focus your efforts on what really matters to keep your business running.

Tip #3: Go with the flow. And go where the money is!

This ties a bit back into letting go of control, if you want to scale and grow, you need to be open and constantly observing things around you. Whether we like it or not - we don’t have FULL control over the trajectory of our business, things happen, things go wrong sometimes, and you as a business owner need to have the ability to go with the FLOW and keep going.

By stepping outside of yourself and being more observational too, you can start to notice more opportunities for money. Pay attention to cues from your customers, pay attention to the feedback coming in from them, and pivot your business accordingly. The true secret to continuing to scale and grow lies in the ability to LISTEN to what your customers want, and delivering that.

I hope these tips help you finally take the next step towards scaling and growth. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a scary and daunting decision at the time but I promise you, it ALL pays off. I also want to mention that scaling isn’t a requirement for every business owner - you don’t have to scale! If you are genuinely happy with where you’re at right now, we applaud you. We hope that at the very least these tips help give you the tools and confidence you need to scale your business if you ever find yourself down that path.

To hear us go MUCH more in-depth on all of these points, be sure to tune into this week’s episode of the Skin and the City Podcast!

Until next time,

xoxo
